CANHCF also recently got it's incoorporation status this summer.
The Cameroonian HIV/AIDS Nutritional Health Care Foundation (CANHCF) is a non-profit association formed in September 2007, aimed at reducing the impact of HIV/AIDS on the infected Cameroonian population by providing the essential nutrition and nutritional education to individuals affected with the disease.
The association was formed by a group of Cameroonian-born Canadians, who have witnessed first-hand the devastating effects of the HIV/AIDS pandemic; from the helplessness of ostracized individuals who have been infected and become critically malnourished, to the rippling effects on communities, as the disease continues to severely undermine the ability of households to provide basic needs given the dwindling workforce caused by the increase in AIDS deaths.
CANHCF members are determined to make a difference in alleviating the trauma and stigma that is currently associated with HIV/AIDS, by providing nutritional assistance to infected individuals, which in turn will enable them to cope with the disease, reduce the incidence of HIV-related infections and bring back a sense of normalcy into their lives.
